Product level feed settings
Product level feed settings have the highest precedence among the 4 components of the Effective feed settings that generate the final feed data.
Product level feed settings can be difficult to maintained, and should only be used as the last resort for customization.
Consider using rules with expressions and the collection level feed settings first. These options are also powerful and easier to maintain (e.g. apply to new products automatically, etc.).
Product level feed settings are configured in the Products screen, in which products can be filtered and edited in different contexts.
The contexts
For even more flexibility, product level feed settings can be scoped to different contexts. Settings in All feeds context will apply to all feeds, while settings at specific feed context will only apply to the corresponding feed.
Feed context settings take precedence over global settings if presented.
Make sure you are in the right context when editing product level feed settings
Contexts are selected with the components at the top of the Products screen
1) Quick access context tabs
The tabs provide a quick way to switch between contexts. The contexts shown here may vary in the following ways
- All feeds context is always shown as the 1st tab
- Without any product selected by the checkboxes, e.g. first time when opening the Products screen, the pinned context and all the contexts that have product level feed settings will be shown. The number of products that have custom settings is displayed next to the context name in a badge for reference. Any pinned context will be added next to the 1st tab, regardless of having any product with feed settings.
- When some products are selected using the checkboxes, the contexts that also contain the selected products will be shown, and the other contexts which do not include all the selected products will be hidden (regardless of having custom settings or being pinned). This gives a quick way to cross check specific products across contexts.
2) Context switch
Not like the context tabs, the context switch includes all the contexts. A search field is available to look for specific feed by name, country, language of currency, which will be handy when there are large number of feeds.
3) Context pin/unpin
A handy pin button is available to pin/unpin context to the top. It could be handy when you are working with specific feed.
The custom settings
The custom settings includes
- Whether an item (product/variant) is excluded from feed
- Whether an item has customized settings.
For quick reference, the items with custom settings are color coded in the table

Note how both items are excluded from the Facebook feed, but the 2nd one (Spring and Autumn jacket) is excluded indirectly (in this case, from All feeds context)
The default state
When an item is at default state in an context, it means there is no custom settings set in the context.
Please note that there can still be effective settings apply to the item, if it is set at a different level (e.g. at All feeds context like above-mentioned Spring and Autumn jacket)
Exclude switch
Use exclude switch to quickly switch between default to excluded
Custom settings button
The custom settings button open up custom setting form, in which different attributes can be selected and configured
Each feed attributes can be selected and configured for the product or variants.
Custom settings can be edited at the product level, or for specific variants. Product custom settings apply to all variants, with variant settings take higher precedence if available.
The filter and search bar
The search bar can be use for product data, including title, product id, and variant id. Besides, different filters can be applied:
- Feed setting (whether a product has custom settings at current context)
The above filter lists all 3 products that have custom settings (being excluded) in the "Multifeed-DE" context
- Collection: list products belonging to 1 or several collections.
- Product status
- Inventory
- ... and more
Context switching
Feeds only contain products within their product group, which defined by including collections. For convenience, when switching to a new feed context, a filter is applied so that only products being included in that feed are displayed
The pre-applied filter can be removed, but the products that are not included within the feed will be color-coded as excluded.
In following video, the collection filter is applied automatically when switching context. Removing the show the products that are not part of the including collections color-coded as "excluded".
